Q: Costco credit card dropping Apple Pay - Citibank Business

On June 20, Costco is changing credit cards from Amex to Citibank. If you have Costco business membership, you must have a business card. This was fine with Amex since business cards support Apple Pay. Citibank on the other hand does not allow any business credit card to work with Apple Pay and after several weeks of calls, I find they have no plans to fix it. After 3 weeks of calls to Costco and Citbank here is the deal: if you have a Costco business credit card you must cancel the new card when it arrives, go to Costco cancel your membership, and sign up for a NEW personal membership, then APPLY for a new personal Citi card!

Anyone affected by this should call both Costco and Citi (use the Costco 800 # to get to Citi) and let them know they should:

1. Citi should support Apple Pay for all cards. But for now:

2. Citi should allow you to apply for a personal card even if you have a business Costco membership.

Also: Amex personal and business cards support Apple Pay notifications. Purchases show up on the iPhone and watch seconds after made. Citibank does not support notifications and from what I heard don't know what they are!

Did Citi actually tell you Citi Business cards don't support Quicken downloads? I figured my Quicken problem is due to some temporary flaw in the Costco card implementation. It's astounding that all their Business cards are missing this feature. And it's unacceptable that Costco gave no advance warning about Apple Pay, Quicken and the other missing features.

You can download activity to Quicken, but it may be manual. There is a download option next There is a Download option next to the Print option (to the right of the Transactions header) on the Tranactions tab. I just did it.

Citibank used to support direct transfer by putting in the account number, but I think they are charging for it now.

My Costco contact told me she got a call from a customer who got the new business card and he had Quicken and it no longer downloads. I also read the same thing on the Quicken forums.

You can download the activity in several formats, including Quicken, then import it into Quicken. I did it several hours ago. It may not support the automatic transfer into Quicken directly.

That is not true for the business card, you must cut/paste or download/import. Citi business cards do not do direct downloads into Quicken which is the most secure and far easier.

That is what I said. You have to download it to your Mac, then import it. Citibank used to support direct downloads into Quicken, but changed it. I had a Citibank card that directly imported into Quicken, then it stopped working. When I checked, they had started charging for directly downloading into the program.

We have 2 Citibank personal cards, a Visa and a MC, both directly download into Quicken fine every 2 days for year. Citi does not charge for this. My Citi business card does not work and that is discussed on the Quicken forums. Citibank Bank is what stopped working, not credit cards.

Frog to mention that I started this thread for Apple Pay and we should stick to that. Another thread could be started foe Quicken if needed.

Well, you'll just have to do it manually until/unless they fix it.

I've given up. The Costco/Citibank fiasco has caused me to cancel my 15+year membership and Citibank business card. #causetodrop

Regarding alerts, I was also disappointed that I wasn't getting the instant ApplePay alerts when the card was used. However, I did find that if you install the Citi app on the iPhone, you can get that to send you instant push alerts whenever the card is used, and they're pretty much indistinguishable from the ApplePay alerts.  I don't know, however, if that works with the business cards.  The downside is that I used to only get alerts for my specific card -- now I get them for all the cards on the account, which makes me feel a bit guilty, like I'm spying on the family.  But then again, some might want that feature.

Thanks for the update. On 9/6/2016, I was able to activate my Citi Business card in Apple Pay. It appears that Citi made a good financial decision.
