Capital letters in email addresses

This is using the latest version of Pages, on the latest version of iOS on my iPad.

I want the first letter of my e-mail address to be capitalized, because it is my first name, and it looks better that way, but Pages will not allow me to capitalize it. It's maddening.

I have tried the "Remove link" command, I have tried editing the "Display" parameter, I have tried editing the text to add the capital then delete the letter before it. No matter what I do, Pages always changes the first letter to lowercase.

This is extremely irritating. Is there any way to turn this off, so I can type the email address to look exactly the way I want it to?

Thanks for any guidance or suggestions.

Once you type in the email address, tap on it to bring up the menu, then tap Link Settings. Change it in the display field, then tap off of the pop up.

For what it's worth, the standard for email addresses is in fact all lower case. Email processing doesn't recognize a difference between lower and upper case.
