Q: How to reset iPod Touch 5 but keep settings on another device?

So I owned an iPod Touch 5 and got a new iPod touch 6 for Christmas. I just used my Apple ID/iCloud to basically set up my iPod so it was exactly the same as my previous one. I was wondering that if I reset my old iPod, will it reset the new one too? I want to sell the old one, but keep all the settings and photos/music/etc on the new one. I'm afraid that if I reset the old one, my iCloud will sync with my new one and all my stuff will be gone. Is that what happens, or would I be fine just resetting it? If I can't, how can I save everything? Thanks.
