No-one outside of Apple knows, and they rarely pre-announce software updates.

The lack of iSync support for Symbian OS v9.1 and UIQ v3.0 based phones (the M600, P990 and W950) has been discussed on here extensively for months.

Do a quick search on here for any of those three models to read people's responses.

For workarounds see here: http://mobile.feisar.com/uiq3.html

Thanks very much for the information.

Although it would have been nice to be able to synchronize the calender and contacts it is not essential for me at the moment.

The main thing for me is to be able to transfer music between iTunes and the phone via the USB cable, so it displays all the details of the music (album cover, name, artist etc) in the same way as you would get from a PC. Do you think this should be ok?

From reading around it seems no-one really knows when there may be iSync support. Do you have any ideas?

Cheers

If the W950 reads MP3 or AAC ID tags ok, then it should display the artist name and track info ok. Not sure about album art. iTunes used to embed album art in the music file for display on an iPod. It doesn't with iTunes 7 and later. I don't know how the W950 handles artwork.

Obviously you won't be able to play iTunes Store purchased tracks on the W950, just ones you've ripped yourself.

I have been informed by a contact in Sony Ericsson that they are working with Apple and are well aware of the lack of iSync support for these phones. However, with the release of iSync 2.0 Apple have added Plugin support and are pushing the phone manufacturers themselves to provide iSync plugins for their new phones.

This means that support for specific phones will not be tied to Apple's software update schedule, and in theory, when you purchase a new phone, an iSync Plugin will be supplied.

This is yet to happen with any manufacturer! Who know if, and when, it will...

Disc2Phone is PC only, I'm afraid.

It probably runs on Intel Macs running Windows via BootCamp or Parallels.

File Transfer via Bluetooth or USB should work just fine. Many people have reported problems getting their phone to mount as an external device on a Mac. But apparently if you choose "Fast File Transfer" on the phone as you pligin it in - it will work. I've not tested this method as I don't have the phone.

I don't have the specific SonyE phone that you have (mine is the 810Wi)...

iSync via Bluetooth sort of works but iCal times are shifted. \

I use "SynchTunes" (3rd party) to install MP3s but seem to require USB to do so in order to get the Memory Card to load to desktop. Otherwise this works fine.

Contacts seem fine via iSync and Bluetooth.

Blue Tooth transfer of files and photos works.

I wish I knew how to load MP3s via Bluetooth....and that iCal would load accuratly.
