Can't Connect MacBook Pro to Samsung S32D850T Monitor

Hey there,

I just purchased a Samsung S32D850T Monitor to connect to my late 2013 MacBook Pro Retina 13"

Full Specs:

MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2013)

2,8 GHz Intel Core i7

Intel Iris 1536 MB

I thought I correctly read up on what I need in order to make this work but apparently not 😟

Tried connecting the monitor via MiniDisplayPort to Dual Link DVI and HDMI-HDMI - unfortunately I don't get a picture.

Anyone have an idea on how to resolve this? Any help would be super appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Best,

Patrick

Haven't gone thru the DVI route. On HDMI you need both devices to be on when plugged together and then go to System Preferences / Displays. At least on my mid-2015 15" MBP, it picked up whatever I've plugged in thus far, but I guess the Detect Displays button is a suitable fallback. I've used a straight HDMI to HDMI cable in all instances. With these newfangled digital connections, the cable does indeed matter.

I have same monitor and use a mini display port to display port cable, no adaptor, and it works at full resolution without a problem, I purchased accel brand cable on amazon. Does HDMI give you full resolution on that monitor? I couldn't find specifications on HDMI in the manual, can't find manual either. I did switch settings from display port 1.1 to 1.2 in the on screen menu. I'm using a MacBook Pro 2014 model.
