Why does my Safari Favorites page suddenly have pale aqua background?

How can I change the color?

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Mavericks (10.9.2)

Just noticed the same color is in my Finder's sidebar. So, where is the system accessing this color selection?

It's called "transparency" and it is the Desktop artwork showing thru. You can turn transparency off in System Preferences.
