Q: I am sending out email from my business email (through Go Daddy on a different server than my personal gmail account.  When they receive the mail in looks like it was sent from my gmail account not my business account!!   What is going on??

I have a business email account set up through GO DADDY.   Just recently, when I send out business emails, the recipient sees them as if they are from my personal gmail account.   When I look at my "sent mail" it looks like they are coming from my business account.   But when I look at what they receive it is from gmail!!   They use totally different servers and they are both connected to the internet.   any ideas?

Try Mail/Preferences/Accounts /Account Information. Select an account, then go to Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP). From the drop down menu select Edit SMPT server list. Then set up a server for each mail account so that is associated with the e-mail address. Then go to each account and set that server as the Outgoing Mail Server (SMPT). You can click Use only this server if desired.

Mail/Preferences/Composing/Send to messages from - set to account of selected mailbox.

Thanks for responding Eric.   Everything looks correct in the Account Information box.   And everything is set up correctly in the Composing/send to box too!  This has been working for about 3 years, so I'm not sure why suddenly this week it stopped working!!!  Ugh!

Open connection doctor in Mail and make sure the SMTP for that account is working. What is the default set to in Composing for Mail preferences?

Also in the Account Information tab, select each account you have and make sure each one has the correct SMTP showing in the box.

Thanks for your response...everything was in order in the connection doctor.   It had worked for 3 years and then suddenly stopped.   I shut down everything and when I opened it again it was fixed!  I'm a genius.  haha

What likely happened is that your GoDaddy smtp server failed and it automatically used the gmail server to send from. It changed the sending email address to gmail's address.

What you can do in case of this happening again is to go to the gmail website and add the GoDaddy account there to send from. You can configure it to show the GoDaddy email address instead of the gmail address.
