Q: Contacts App Very Slow

I recently imported contacts from an Exchange based account which I no longer use to my Mac Contacts app, only to seemingly loose all my contacts. I then re-imported them using Time Machine and seem to recall following instructions which suggested deleting a plist in the library. Not sure which I performed first. Now, the Contacts app is exceedingly slow, that is, any function selected in the app takes 10-20 sec. to register and perform. A solution to disassociate accounts from Google are not applicable since I did not have the Google contacts synching feature enabled. Any assistance-trouble shooting is appreciated.

iMac, OS X El Capitan (10.11.4), 1 TB, 2.7 GHz Core i5

    I've been having the same issue. Console.app tells me there's some activity from Daylite.app, likely via CardDAV (how I long for the good old days of Sync Services...). Here's the full support email I sent to Marketcircle, the company that develops Daylite:

    Summary:

    -------------------------------

    Contact.app groups slow to display properly

    Description:

    -------------------------------

    I have several smart groups in contacts.app. None of them display when I click them. Console.app tells me that each time I switch from one group to another, Daylite gets into the act. Here’s what Console has to say:

    Here’s a fuller description of the issue, plus notes from an Apple Store visit:

    ===============

    For some reason, in El Capitan, I click on one group, and I don't get to see that group's members right away.

    I click the name of a second group, and I see the names in the first group

    I click the name of a third group, and I see the names in the second group.

    After a while (1-2 minutes, maybe more depending on the size of the group), the names in the last-clicked group do appear.

    Each group is a Smart Group, where I look for text in the Notes field.

    - Apple Store visit

    - likely due to size of db, especially because I fill my contacts with notes consisting of content of emails

    =================

    Could the issue have something to do with Daylite? Please advise
