Using iPad power adapters with your iPhone, iPad, and iPod - Apple Support
However, I've seen reports here that iPod classic does not work with some of Apple's USB power adapters. For example, this is the 12-watt power adapter, which is the one that comes with some iPad models

While other iPods are listed under Compatibility, the iPod classic is not. The smallest 5-watt power adapter (which came with iPad mini)
http://www.apple.com/shop/product/MD810LL/A/apple-5w-usb-power-adapter
does show iPod classic models under Compatibility. The other power adapter that came with iPads is 10-watt; there is no current separate listing for it in the Apple Store.

I will check it out at the Apple Store.
Thank You for your response, it was very helpful.
