brand new imac and the mouse is frozen

I turned it on and got halfway through the migration, when it came up with a warning on an incompatible app I could not click okay because mouse is frozen in corner -- tried everything -- restart, reboot unplug etc.

iMac, brand new

the new ones don't take batteries, they charge. It's not recognizing it plugged in. Bluetooth set up sees it by the pointer will not move. A logitech is working but I need the mac one to work
