Q: new songs being stored locally - won't go to cloud - no cloud icon - can't sync new songs to iPod

Hello, I got a new laptop two days ago and installed iTunes. I previously used it on a PC with no issues. All of the new music I've purchased using iTunes on the new laptop appears to be being stored locally on my laptop and not being uploaded to the cloud. When I do a sync to my iPod, it acts like it is syncing but all the new songs do not sync. There is no cloud icon next to the new songs like there is next to all the older songs I purchased when using the PC. I signed up for the Match as a last ditch effort and it didn't solve my problem. Can someone please help me? This is so frustrating

    Hello murphy and kyra,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

I understand from your post that you're trying to manually sync music from your iTunes library to your iPod.  Are you able to play these songs in iTunes that you're trying to sync?  This will help tell us if the songs actually exist for iTunes to sync them.  If you're trying to move these songs manually to your iPod then I suggest you follow the steps below:

If you can't manually add or remove content from your device

Check to make sure that the "Manually manage music and videos" option is turned on:

    1. Connect your device to your computer.
    2. Open iTunes. Make sure that you have the latest version.
    3. Locate and click on your device.
Icon of iOS device in iTunes
    4. In the left sidebar, click Summary.
    5. Scroll down to the Options section.
    6. Click the box next to "Manually manage music and videos."
    7. Click Apply.

You might see a message that your device is synced with another library. This means that you've used a different computer to sync your device in the past, and iTunes can't sync without first erasing and replacing all iTunes content on your device.

Move content from iTunes on your computer to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

    Take care.

Thank you, alex_h1. I think my problem was two-fold. I did what you said to do and I also downloaded all the songs I had purchased on the old PC to my new laptop's song library. Now everything is syncing as it should to my iPod - old songs and new songs. What a relief! Thanks again!
