Apr 27, 2016 6:01 AM in response to Historian63by den.thed,First try and reset your printing system, as per > OS X El Capitan: Reset the printing system
Then check for an update, as per > Printer and scanner software available for download for your Mac - Apple Support
If that does not help, go to > https://www.usa.canon.com/internet/portal/us/home/support/details/printers/inkje t-single-function/ip-series/ip7220, select Drivers & Download and install the Recommended Downloads.

Servers EnterpriseIf it is working at all I would have thought that meant the driver is installed. However here are the latest Canon drivers from Apple which I believe do include your iP7220.
See https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1742?locale=en_US
In this case Canon also seem to have their own Mac drive. See https://www.usa.canon.com/internet/portal/us/home/support/details/printers/inkje t-single-function/ip-series/ip7220
Personally I normally find Apple's drivers better than the printer makers - at least for HP. To change from the Canon to Apple or vice versa driver will require deleting and re-adding the printer queue. You could actually have both versions setup at the same time if you want.
