I have an email stuck in my inbox that causes my mail program to crash is I select it. Is there any way to get rid of it? It is only on my desktop iMac

I cannot delete one message. Mail program crashes. How do I get rid of it?

iMac (27-inch, Late 2013), OS X El Capitan (10.11.4), email program

Thanks for the help. Before I received your message, I opened mail as usual, then I hit delete at the same time it selected the fouled message. That worked for me. I'll keep your reply as reference for future purposes.
