OS X Safari Smart Search Field History Searching

I frequently use Safari's smart search field (the search bar at the middle top of the app, if you didn't know the term) and have noticed that it doesn't do so well when you search for a term that isn't starting from the very beginning of the history results i.e. the history page you want is "The Smart Search Field" and typing "Search Field" into the search bar won't show the history result but typing "The Smart" will. This seems to be a pretty poor implementation of the search capability when applications like Intellij have had this kind of searching for a while now. Does anyone know of a workaround/tool that fixes this issue?
