Can not open a numbers file - the type has changed to .number.sb?

In short, I use a file daily on my computer and keep it on the drive. TODAY, that file is visible but the file type has changed and I can not open it anymore. See image...

Does anyone know how I can access this file...

iMac, OS X El Capitan (10.11.3)

Is this file still opened by one of the following?

Pages for Mac
Pages for iCloud
Pages for iOS

Talk about tunnel vision. Replace Pages with Numbers in my prior post.

Have you tried (after backing it up by making a copy) simply changing its extension back to .numbers? (You would do this in Finder, not Numbers).
