voiceover tool not responding

I'm having a problem with the voiceover tool, once it's open and I click the red button to start recording, nothing happens. Strangest thing is that it was just working, literally right now, I recorded half of my project in small voice clips with no issues and I was about to record the next and nothing... I've tried closing the tool and re opening and I've also tried closing FCP and re opening and nothing is working.

Help!
