Q: iMessages against wrong user account

I recently got a macbook pro for my daughter, from a friend and set up with myself as the main account to be administrator.  I followed this up with creating an account for her with parental controls.  No problems until we have noticed iMessages are coming through on my user account and not hers.  Can anyone tell me how I can fix this so they come through to her?  I have tried logging out within my user account and then signing in when in hers but this does not appear to have worked.  As a predominant windows user I have to confess to being a little lost with this particular issue.  Any assistance would be greatly appreciated as I am warming to Apple for myself.

Thanks,

Lynz

    First things first

When you set up the account for yourself - are you using your iCloud account to log in or a local account? If this is for someone else to use - suggest you use a local account

Next - the iMessages coming through are dependent on Continuity from your personal account

Use Continuity to connect your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Mac - Apple Support

I would disable that if you do not want your iMessages going to the Mac yet

You have to sign out in iMessage in Mac

With the iMessage application running - click on word Messages - Preferences - Accounts - if signed in - sign out

    That should do it
