Removed PC Quicktime but cant import .movs into After Effects.

I have uninstalled quicktime on my PC as per the recent recommendation over security issues but now I cant import certain .mov files into After Effects anymore. It says "this .mov file is damaged or unsupported". However, certain .movs do import and I'm not sure why. Do I need to convert them into something After Effects will import, if so how and what? Maybe I need to download codecs again without downloading the player?
