29 watt USB-C adapter to charge iPad mini?

HI!

Can I use the 29 watt USB-C power adapter with the Lightning to USB-C cable to charge an iPad mini or is it only working with the iPad Pro?

That combination of connector and charger are just for the larger iPad Pro model only.

I would NOT risk it with any other iPad model. May cause excessive overheating or possibly other potential damage that will void any AppleCare warranty you may have left, if any.

http://batteryuniversity.com/learn/article/how_to_prolong_lithium_based_batterie s - "Energy Cells, which most consumer products have, should be charged at 1C or less. Avoid so-called ultra-fast chargers that claim to fully charge Li-ion in less than one hour", where C is defined in "The 1,500mAh pouch cells for mobile phones were first charged at a current of 1,500mA (1C)".

yeah watt is volt * amps

if volts are higher then the device was made for it will kill it

amps according to owns law are drawn not pushed amp = volt / resistance

devices which does not control how much amps their charging system draw are lillegal and dangerous in most countries

the more power is drawn from a charger the lower level volts it can deliver so making a charging system get even close to the max the charger can deliver is a bad idea as that would lower the volt level and in the end make the charging stop
