I read alot of posts about this but I don't get how to do it.
I want to do this: For each cell B3:H3 I want to check if that cell is empty or not. I then sum B2:H2 based on that.
SUMIF(B3:H3,NOT(ISBLANK(cell)),B2:H2).

you'll have to add a row to perform the boolean test on each cell... I put this in row 4...
B4=IF(B3≠"", 1, 0)
this is shorthand for... select cell B4, then type (or copy and paste from here) the formula:
=IF(B3≠"", 1, 0)
select cell B4, copy
select cells B4 thru H4, paste
the sum formula is in A5 of this example:
A5=SUMIF(B4:H4, 1, B2:H2)
You can do this with a single SUMIF formula that tests for values not equal to "" (which stands for null) like this:
=SUMIF(B3:H3,"<>"&"",B2:H2)
