Icloud account no longer working in mail

where to begin?

I migrated everything from one mac to a "new' one using carbon cloner.

i'm running snow leopard.

icloud wasn't working, it kept saying my password was incorrect, so i read forums and tried:

changing the password.

disabling the account then enabling.

redoing the account info in mail preferences (some were greyed out).

ran key chain first aid on my computer password.

ran disk utility.

keychain first aid says the .mac and .me mail certs are expired (don't know if that matters or how to fix it.

deleting the icloud account from mail and then attempting to re-install and i get this

"The icloud.com IMAP server “Automatically added for iOS & OS X Mail” is not responding"

ive tried the .mac .me .icloud versions of my emails on all my attempts. not really sure what there is left to try
