I tried that. Unfortunately it won't let me delete it. Another drop down box comes up and says "the file 81291.emix couldn't be opened because there is no such file." I have no idea what that means. I have tried everything to delete it and it just keeps coming up with the same message. Thanks.
Please back up all data, then rebuild the mailbox.
Have you tried closing Mail and re-opening it to see if it then displays the Draft folder as empty? Or restarting the Mac?

I tried closing mail and reopening it. It didn't help. I am not experienced enough on the computer to rebuild the mailbox. I guess I'll just leave it there for a while. thanks for all your help.
Rebuilding is pretty easy.
Launch mail, select the Mailbox you want to rebuild on the left, click the Mailbox drop-down menu, choose Rebuild.
I think I just fixed it I went into Mail preferences - clicked on behavior and unclicked the box marked "save drafts to server." Went back to mail and was able to delete the draft!! Saw the answer on another post. Thanks.
Nicely done !
Thank you. Since I am 79, I am thrilled I was able to figure it out 🙂
Thanks - I will note this for the future!!
