Restoring from backup erases downloaded Apple Music

Whenever I erase and restore my iPhone from a backup I lose all the music that I downloaded from Apple Music. I am curious if there is a way to restore my backup without losing my music downloads.

If you're wondering why I'm restoring from a backup, it's to clear off all the Other data that my phone accumulates. My phone is a 16Gig model and quickly runs out of space. Restoring from a backup clears off most of the Other data (in some cases several gigs).

Re-downloading my saved playlists and Apple Music albums is frustrating and time consuming. Any suggestions?

Apple Music files are handled differently from other files and have to be downloaded to each device independently, not synced.
