New Magic Trackpad is not recognized via my control panel.

When I click on trackpad in my control panel all I get is searching and it never identifies my new Magic Trackpad. The curser works but I can not scroll using two fingers. My old track pad worked fine but the button on the lower right fell off so I am updating. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for your help. Larry
