Apr 28, 2016 4:23 PM in response to den.thedby canderson42,model is Late 2014
Connection is mini DP to DP.
I've worked through the various scaled resolutions in System Preferences - Display - Scaled (while holding alt/option), to no avail.

Apr 28, 2016 10:21 PM in response to canderson42by den.thed,What Resolutions and Refresh Rates are listed in the display preference...?
To get the fully 3840 x 2160 resolution for that monitor, I'm pretty sure that you will need to lower the Refresh Rate down to 30Hz.

Can you post a screenshot of the options available in display preferences?

Apr 29, 2016 3:59 AM in response to den.thedby canderson42,It is 30hz, which is the default unless I force a change to one of the non-default scaled resolutions.

Apr 29, 2016 4:05 AM in response to lllaassby canderson42,I know this isn't a true cmd-shift-4 screen grab, but I also wanted to show the unused screen area due to the under scan. This morning I changed the cable from mini-DP/DP to HDMI in the hopes of getting the scale slider to fix this issue. As you can see from the picture, whether I am using an HDMI cable or a display port cable, I am still loosing usable screen due to consistent under scan.

Apr 29, 2016 7:39 AM in response to garyfromrio lindaby lllaass,There is nothing wrong with his display preferences. What the posted is what is display for high resolution monitors. To show what you show canderson42 has to press and hold the Option key and then click on the Scaled line item. canderson42 also has to check the box on that window that says Show low resolution modes to show refresh rate,
Also, canderson42 please take a screenshot

Apr 29, 2016 7:59 AM in response to lllaassby garyfromrio linda,Does the Display Pref window appear like that only when the highest resolution supported is selected? My monitor supports 3440 X 1440 but my MacMini(Late 2012)only goes as high as 2560 X 1440.
