i pad asking for six digit code
My wife's I pad is asking for a six digit passcode and she has never used a four digit one.

Your question is very ambiguous. It may mean:
- The iPad is asking for a passcode and we don't recall ever entering one. In this case, follow ManSinha's advice above.
- We just updated iOS, and the iPad is now asking us to create a new six digit passcode. We never used a passcode before, and do not wish to start now. In that case, when being asked for this new passcode, click "passcode options" at the bottom.
If You want a 4 digit code, go to 'Passcode Options' and select a 4-digit code or choose any type of Passcode/Password.
