I want to turn on iCloud Music on my phone and my laptop, without thousands of old songs on my laptop going to my phone. Is there a way of doing this? I want to be able to download apple music on both devices, but this requires iCloud Music.

It's very frustrating, I have thousands of downloaded songs that have built up over the years on my laptop. I want to turn on iCloud music, but when I do, all of these songs go straight to my phone. I don't want all of them there. I just want the songs that I listen to on Apple music. Is there a way around this? Apple NEEDS to come up with a fix.

Hello shivanikushwaha,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

If I understand your post correctly you'd like to have iCloud Music Library enabled on your iPhone, but you don't want to see all of your available music in the cloud. To do this simply enable the option to show only downloaded music, and you'll only see the songs listed that are downloaded on your iPhone.

To see music that you downloaded to listen to offline, go to My Music. Under the Recently Added section, tap the category selector (Artists, Albums, etc.). Only Downloaded Music is at the bottom of the category list. When this setting is on, My Music shows only songs that you downloaded to your device. Turn this setting off to see all of your music, including music stored in iCloud Music Library.
