I need a safe video ts conversion software for iMovie

I have home movies transferred from Super 8 to DVDs 15+ years ago and need software that will convert video TS to importable for iMovie. Everything I've found to date in Apple Communities seems outdated or overly complicated and Google offers plenty of third-party software that may not be import-safe. Advice? N
