Is there an app to delete duplicate files?
iMac (21.5-inch Mid 2010), Mac OS X (10.6.8), firefox
Duplicate files in which application? Photos? Pages? or just in general?

You can certainly try - if it does not work then we can see about alternatives
Of course the older software limits how many apps will successfully work with it
I have tried to download it from the app store and it just sits there. I have never purchased an app - could you help me?
Backup all your data before trying to delete duplicates, because you may accidently delete your only copy! Check both your Applications and Downloads folder. If the application doesn't show its full icon, it probably is still downloading. IPhoto which already is on your Mac lets you select two photos and View them both at full screen using the maximizing slider on the bottom of the screen. If you can tell one is larger than the other, you may have a thumbnail that can be deleted. I found most duplicate cleaners don't accurately find duplicates, and miss quite a few. If you deleted iPhoto, http://www.lemkesoft.com GraphicConverter can browse photos much like IPhoto does.
