Recover lost Pages document

Anyone no a good way to recover a Pages document. I was working on a file and everything froze. After trying many things I finally had to force quit Pages. When I reopened the application the most recent saved file was one from yesterday. All the changes made since were gone. Any suggestions on how to recover the more recent version?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.5.4)

If you had Time Machine running, it should contain a more recent version. It's been mentioned (but not confirmed) that incremental backups are done more frequently than once a minute if there have been changes to the file.

If you don't have TM running, have no similar backup system running, and haven't saved the document manually since yesterday, then the only place the current changes existed was in volatile memory, and disappeared when you quit Pages.😟

Run a backup application, or press command-S whenever you pause in your work, and especially when you get out of your chair and leave the keyboard.

Barry

Many of us have shared previously that the first thing that one does when they create a new Pages document (whether Pages '09 v4.3, or Pages v5.6.1) is to save the blank document to the local drive with a name other than Untitled.pages. Once you do that, then autosave is triggered, and it will automatically save your work about every 15 seconds as you type. If that document is saved on iCloud, network propagation delays may amount to much larger time windows for autosave.

Thus, in a Pages event (crash, hang, or power outage) that disrupts the autosave, you will have lost an insignificant amount of content, and large amounts of content. After this event, you would press and hold the shift key when reopening the same affected document, and save again.
