My volume is showing red

I Have no volume and when I try to turn it up the bar is showing red & yellow blocks

iPhone 3GS, iOS 4.2

Did you check the settings for your music volume in Settings/Music?

The yellow and red bars indicate that the volume level might damage your hearing.
