Q: I can't Sync my old Ipod

I reformatted my computer and installed the latest version of iTunes. (Compared to the version I had, it's not as good..) When I plug my new iPod into the computer, I can drag songs and playlists onto the new iPod and then it syncs.

But for some reason I can't do that with my old iPod. The way my old iTunes was setup, it would only sync the songs I had checked and ignore the ones unchecked. I prefer this system but I don't know how to change the settings. Also how do I get my old songs off of the old iPod if I wanted to put them onto the new iPod?
