2009 iMac not reading CD's anymore

Hi ..

iMac running v10.9.5 / Intel Core 2 due / 3GB's of RAM.

I do have CD's selected in Finder > Preferences > General. Doesn't make a difference.

I've never had any issues with the same CD's not being recognized in the Finder or iTunes before.

Suggestions welcome...
