I want to have the screen on all the time when I charge

yep.

If you're using Maps and you have the phone plugged into a charger, the screen will stay on all of the time without the need to make any changes in the settings.

Why is it not the answer you hoped for? The iPhone will do exactly what you said you wanted it to do. You don't have to make any changes in the settings. It does it all by itself.

If you are using the Maps app to navigate and you have the phone plugged in to a power source, the screen will stay on, regardless of what time setting you have in Settings>General>Autolock.

Just auto-lock it! 🙂
