MacBook Air issues with MS Office

I have just bought a MacBook Air which is running OS X El Capitan version 10.11.3.


On my Macbook pro I run the operating system OS X 10.9.5 and have no issues with MS Office.


I wish the same could be said with my MacBook Air.

(1) It crashes out of outlook;

(2) It will not open word documents;

(3) It will not open excel spreadsheets - and indeed I have now discovered that it is corrupting excel spreadsheets when it fails to open them.


Please can someone help me?


I'm not sure if it is the operating system or how Office has been installed. All and every help welcome.


I really thought that the MacBook Air would operate Office identical to my MacBook pro. Perhaps I should have bought another MacBook pro instead.
