How to get rid of SymEvent.kext
I just updated to ElCapitan and now have this annoying thing back. It comes up and I had gotten rid of it one other time, but now I can't remember how I did it. Does anyone know?

It's from having Norton anti virus software installed.

SymEvent.kext is a part of Norton AV software.
Uninstall Norton. It is a worthless scam on your Mac. It offers no additional protection. In fact all it does is cause problems.
I don't have Norton installed, any other ideas and how do I get rid of it?

No. Not really.
Seeing as how it is part of Norton AV, to me that indicates that at some time Norton AV was installed on that Mac. In all likelihood it was incorrectly uninstalled and now there are bits and pieces of it floating around on your Mac. You are either going to have to go looking for the bits and piece, ask Symantec for help or ignore it. Which every solution you prefer.
