I have a couple hundred photos in camera roll
I have another couple hundred photos under all photos
is there a way to move the camera roll photos to all photos?
I can go to camera roll and highlight all of the photos
but when I try to add them, all photos is grayed out

Camera roll is the area which houses all the images - is there an album that you have named "all photos"?
when I choose Photos at the bottom of the screen, I get YEARS and it appears to me to be the photos in album titled All Photos
but there is another Album titled Camera Roll that has a number of photos in it
I would like to move the photos from Camera Roll Album into All Photos album but it is grayed out

Because they are the same photos - one showing you a different collection sorted by time - moments and years
The Years collection that you see should include photos from the Camera Roll as well as photos that are synced to the device, saved to the device and screenshots. Years simply separates all of those photos by years taken, saved, etc.
AActually in albums, the camera roll pictures are not part of the all pictures album
that is what I want to do, get the camera room pictures into the all pictures album
Look at my screenshot. If that is what you are referring to as the all photos album, all of my camera roll photos are in there.
photos is where the pictures are by years
but on the right side ... in albums
there are several albums listed
one album is titled all photos and has some 250 photos
another album is titled Camera Roll and it has 135 photos
in your screenshot, clicking of photos does NOT bring up all of the pictures
only the photos contained in album all photos
I would like to combine the camera photos with the all photos album
so that from your screenshot, if I choose Photos, every picture is there

You should be importing all pics taken with the iPhone ( camera roll) to your computer regularly. From there you can organize them and sync them to your iPhone. When you sync them from your computer to your iPhone, the will be in the photos section.
