archival quality dvd

What is recommended for the best archival quality DVD? I have family photographs on my computer, and also backed up to an external hard drive. I'd like to put these on DVDs as well. Looking for something that will record accurately and will last.

Thanks!

I used to be in the polycarbonate business (Lexan). A lot of our PC went for CD & DVD production. It's pretty durable stuff (it's also what the NFL helmets are made of, and NHL face masks/visors too, not to mention NASA space suits & the canopy on fighter jets). But still, Rudegar has a point, spinning media seems to be on the way out. Will DVD drives still be around in 25 years? Maybe archive on both USB sticks & DVDs?

Or for that matter... How long will USB 2 or 3 be used? Or how long will software be able to read the current photo file formats? I guess it deppends on how long you want to keep them. I have photo DVDs that are perfectly readable after 25+ years. Maybe archive those photos in B&W and print them with the silver halide process. We know that'll last at least a couple hundred years.
