Noise when recording video - iPad Pro 9.7

Hi all

Am experiencing an intermittent issue when recording video on my new iPad Pro

I have linked a sample below - Be sure to turn your sound down a little prior to clicking, it's a pretty annoying noise

I think it's probably an issue with the device, owned iPads in the past and never had this problem, and have booked a genius Bar appointment for later in the week.

Just checking for similar experiences or any thoughts

Hi Wawazat71,

Congratulations on your new iPad Pro!

If I understand correctly, there's an intermittent audio issue that occurs when recording video with your iPad Pro. If you haven't already, try taking a look at the article below and running through the troubleshooting steps that it provides.

Get help

If you still have issues after testing the microphone on your device, try these steps:

Unplug any accessory plugged into the headset jack.

Avoid blocking the microphone and iSight mic with your fingers while holding the device or recording video.

Remove screen protectors, films, or cases that cover the microphone, iSight mic, or iPhone receiver.

Clear any debris from the microphones or iPhone receiver. Refer to the user guide for your device on microphone locations.

Restart your device.

Make sure you have the latest version of iOS.

If you've tried these steps and people still can't hear you on phone or FaceTime calls or Siri doesn’t hear your requests, contact Apple Support.

Thanks for the response Jason

I ended up going to a genius bar, they did some diagnostics and decided to replace the device

Just a FYI if anyone else experiences this issue

I have had this EXACT same issue. A horrible grinding noise covering entire recordings made with video. Not every recording, but several, and for no reason. I ended up taking my iPad Pro 9.7 to the Apple Store, and they replaced it. But guess what, my replacement iPad Pro 9.7 just did the same thing on 2 videos I recorded, after working fine for one month. Something is definitely wrong. I will be taking this one back to the Apple Store as well.
