Syncing iPad to iMac

Attempting to sync iPad with iMac goes through steps 1 through 7 gets to 7 & msg appears " iTunes could not sync calendars to iPad (name) because the sync server failed to sync the iPad" . Tried to sync several times including restarting both iMac & iPad w/o success.
