iphone video appears in photos, not in iMovie photos library

Trying to make an iMovie using video shot on the iPhone. Videos appear in PHOTOS. The videos do not appear in iMovie when I click on photos library in order to import content. There are 7 short videos from the phone. Have placed them in an album, that didn't work. They were all shot in once place, have tried places, that doesn't work. What is the hangup on getting these little videos to appear in iMovie so that I can put together my project?
