The e-mail on my iPhone stopped working

The e-mail on my iPhone stopped working after I received so many "Unknown User" ("No Content") e-mails that they filled up my inbox. Was that a virus? How do I fix my e-mail?

Couple of things you can do

Not sure it is the Phone per se

Your email provider may have disabled your account

Log into the web portal of the email provider (eg if it is Yahoo - the web portal would be mail.yahoo.com)

Clear the offending emails from there and set up a rule to direct them into trash directly

THEN

On the phone

Delete the email account

Force restart the phone

Re add the account

Try resetting your Mail Account.

First close your Mail App completely from the app switcher window by double clicking the Home button and swiping up the Mail preview pane up until it disappears from the screen.

Then go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > locate your email provider and click on the account. On the next page Delete Account.

Then do a forced restart. Hold down the Home and Wake/Sleep buttons at the same time for about 15-20 seconds until the Apple logo appears.

Then go back to Settings > Mail… and add the account again.
