need help with lion kernel panic

Hey all,

I have a 2006 20" 2.16GHz iMac with 4GB RAM and a 250GB hard drive running 10.7.5 OS X Lion. The iMac recently experienced a kernel panic, and I'm not sure why. I haven't been running any new programs or changing my usage patterns recently. This is the first on that has happened in quite awhile.

I'm attaching the kernel panic log to this post in the hope that someone with more knowledge than myself may be able to diagnose the issue and prevent another panic from happening again.

If you have been having a lot of these panics, does the backtrace always show "ATIRadeonX1000" as below?

Kernel Extensions in backtrace:

com.apple.ATIRadeonX1000(7.0.4)[D115E4D9-D90D-4251-BF41-8ED504BEF611]@0x1839000 ->0x18a5fff

dependency: com.apple.iokit.IOPCIFamily(2.7)[8087C029-833E-4B62-A8C3-2B074B4C55F7]@0xade000

dependency: com.apple.iokit.IONDRVSupport(2.3.4)[393829BA-614C-4ED7-B4AD-CE577A41C683]@0xf4 5000

dependency: com.apple.iokit.IOGraphicsFamily(2.3.4)[EE3F8FBE-3457-4F0E-A3A3-B9B1A44DCF6B]@0 xf11000

If it does, then it might indicate you are having problems with your graphics hardware. I DO NOT know if it is your graphics, so make sure you can see a pattern in all your panic reports.

Thanks for your prompt and helpful reply BobHarris! Yes, I had a feeling it might be the graphics card, but I was never entirely certain. I haven't had any kernel panics in awhile, and my previous logs were deleted when I cleaned my system with Onyx awhile back. If I do encounter another one, I'll be sure to post it here, and keep a sharp eye out for the ATIRadeonX1000 entry.

I haven't noticed any strange graphics issues such as screen glitches, flashes, or display artifacts. I can also try a clean reinstall if you think that it could be a driver issue with Lion and that specific Radeon card.
