Apple USB SuperDrive is not supported...

I'm getting the message, "Apple USB SuperDrive is not supported on this Mac." on a Mid-2012 MacBook Pro running El Capitan. Are there any third-party DVD players that will work with a MacBook that already has an internal DVD drive?

Your MacBook Pro contains a drive of some sort. (It depends on exactly which model you have, but all MacBook Pros from 2012 have a drive.)

As the following article states:

"The Apple USB Super Drive ... [is] compatible with any Mac ... that doesn't have a built-in optical drive."

The drive is not compatible with your machine.
