Metronome does not generate audio output in playback

When in playback no audio is generated from the metronome plugin. With the plugin open I see that it is receiving tempo signal (light flashing in time to beat) but no audio is output from the device. This is happening in one concert, when I start a new one from default, then I get audio output. Any ideas?
