I cannot give you a generic answer. What I do, let's say in Florida, is bring up Google Maps, and with Maps showing the general area I am in, I then search for rest areas in Google Maps. This may not work in all States as the areas may have to be included in the database. Another alternative is to look at the State Travel website which often includes a link to rest areas.
Please tell me how to find the rest areas?
Using Apple Maps, I just typed in "rest area", and the rest areas on the interstate closest to my home here showed up. As elcpu stated, a lot is going to depend on what the particular state's Department of Transportation, or the agency responsible for the rest areas adds. Here is Illinois, the rest areas have names, and that is what popped up on my map. Finding the pin right next to the interstate should help identify them.
I assume the rest area info is available. 2 days ago we drove through Wisconsin and I was trying to find rest areas. Maps showed none, Google Maps showed them all. Please understand I want to use Maps.
I understand you want to use Maps. I use Maps as well. If you read my post, it isn't up to the maps app, but what is shared with the company Apple uses to populate the maps. I just used my maps app to go near a few places I know in Wisconsin, and searched again, and it did not show any. Again, this is probably an issue with the data supplier for Apple Maps. As far as I know that is TomTom. You can write to TomTom if you wish, or you can provide feedback to Apple at their feedback page here, http://www.apple.com/feedback and then click on the appropriate subject area.
Yes it is however I use Google Maps instead as the are more comprehensive. I certainly finds them on the major freeways.
Thanks. I do know how to do that in Google Maps, but not with Apple Maps. I want to use Apple Maps.
What happens when you try the same in Apple Maps?
FWIW, I have resorted to using Google Maps as IMO it is more robust. Just a preference in my case.
Same search does not produce results in Maps.
Please don't share personal information but where are you located in broad terms? I am in Texas, Chris is in Illinois.
I would report this to Apple. As I mentioned the Maps App is not as robust, I have found the same thing as you.
