How do I set up my apple time capsule to backup my external drive?

I have installed an Apple Time Capsule on my network. It seems to be working fine. I need to use it to back up my external drive (if that is possible)

Can someone give me directions?

thanks,

If you're using Time Machine, open its pane of System Preferences, click on Options, and remove the external drive from the exclusion list. This isn't possible for all volume formats.

If you're using a different backup product, check its documentation.
