You are wrong and they don't.

My Home button on all my iPhones since iPhone 3G, 4s, 5, 5s, 6, 6s, 6s + and 7 are working.

I would actually find it pretty useful, I don't get those of you who just say "you don't need it since there is the home button", that's not true.

Especially with my iPhone 7: with such a fast touch ID, while the phone is lying on a desk and you just want to take a look at the lock screen (and don't want to raise-to-awake), the only way to wake it up is with the sleep button (which is obviously not so handy), since pushing the touch-id home button is likely to bring you to the home screen 99,9% of the time in less than a second.

And believe me, I had never never liked before that double tap to wake on android phones, but I just realize i needed it as soon as I started used an iPhone with Touch ID.

Maybe while writing this I'm realizing that maybe I should try to get used in pushing the home button with a non-scanned finger 😁...

Use an un-enrolled finger.

Why double tap when one press the home button or sleep/wake button will wake the screen up?

I've no need for that extra feature.

You can of course send Apple a feedback.

iPhone is already easy to use.

The iPhone is already easy to navigate and to use. There wouldn't really be a need to implement this to the iPhone. You could, however, try submitting this as a request to Apple?

I had this feature on my android and now having an iphone it ***** not to have it. Very convenient.
