I cannot get the apple remote too control the screen. When I press the buttons on the remote the Apple TV blinks. It does the with all the buttons separate or together. I tried holding the Menu and rewind buttons to pair the remoter like the other posts indicate. It still will not change any thing on the TV screen. It was working about 5 months ago but now it does not respond at all.

Can you turn ATV on and off with the remote?
I assume you can see the ATV home screen on the TV, so it's not just a video problem.
Could be old batteries?

If the light blinks the remote is working. How many times does it blink for 1 button press?
You need to try and pair your remote. It is menu and RIGHT arrow for 5 seconds.
