Messages app texts not displayed chronologically

I'm running OS X El Capitan (10.11) on a Macbook Pro - Late 2011 edition.

How do I get my text messages to appear in chronological order on my Messages app?

It shows I have new messages, and I can go straight to them by right clicking (or Command+click) on the Messages icon, but I'd like for them also to display in chronological order like they do on my iPhone. It used to be in chronological order automatically, but got all wacky when I updated to OS X El Capitan.

It was set to sort by time. It doesn't help to change it to set manually or change it back to by time.

I'm having same issue, all my imessage messages are stacked together and are not ordered in the order they were received or sent, please help. High Sierra OS here.

I’m having the same issue. Replies are showing up above questions. It is hard to track the conversations when they do not post chronologically.

I’m having the chronological problem with messages on a 6S iPhone, updated to 11.2.1. It started after 11.2 update, I think.
